Mutual of Omaha Foundation Announces First Quarter Grants

The Mutual of Omaha Foundation has announced $880,500 in mission grants to 11 non-profit organizations for the first quarter of 2013.

In support of the Foundation's mission to prevent and break the cycle of poverty for families in the Omaha metropolitan area, the Foundation will consider requests from organizations that address the following critical issues: homeless prevention, emergency shelter, food, literacy/language, workforce development, financial literacy, behavioral health, early childhood education, preparedness for graduation, youth violence and domestic abuse.

The Mutual of Omaha Foundation approved funding to the following organizations:

Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, Inc. $150,000 Building for the Future Capital Campaign
Heartland Family Service $500,000 4-Year Grant in support of the North Omaha Intergenerational Human
Legal Aid of Nebraska $25,000 Access to Justice Self-Help Center
Southern Sudan Community Association $10,000 Financial Literacy and Household Budgeting
TeamMates Mentoring Program $20,000 Mentor/Mentee Match Support
Together $50,000 Metro Home BASE
Youth Care, Inc. $5,000 Workforce Education
Youth Emergency Services $15,000 General Operating Support
Youth for Christ USA, Inc. $5,000 Dillon's House

In addition to these mission grants, the Foundation also approved a grant for $100,000 to the Omaha Zoo Foundation. This list along with descriptions of each project can be found on the Foundation's Web site.
