The Mutual of Omaha Foundation has announced $245,000 in mission grants to ten non-profit organizations for the second quarter of 2014.
Included in these grants is a $10,000 grant to Mercy Housing. Mercy Housing provides affordable housing to 487 low and moderate income families within the five properties they operate in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
Mercy Housing believes until individuals and families have a safe place to call home, they cannot focus on building their futures. Many clients come to them without the social support, financial status, job readiness or resources to independently secure stable employment or reach self-sufficiency. In addition to affording housing, they provide access to on-site resident services including financial and housing stability programs and programs for children that include tutoring and leadership activities, health education and community engagement.
In addition to this grant, the Mutual of Omaha Foundation approved funding to the following organizations:

Applications for First Quarter 2015 Accepted Through November 15
In support of the Foundation’s mission to break the cycle of poverty for families in the Omaha metropolitan area, the Foundation will consider requests from organizations that address the following outcome areas: increase educational achievement, increase self-sufficiency, prevent and end homelessness and prevent and end violence.
Information on how to apply can be found at mutualofomahafoundation.org. Applications are accepted year-round. The timing of the receipt of the application determines when it will be assigned for review.
