Omaha, Neb.--The Mutual of Omaha Foundation has announced $177,500 in mission grants to seven non-profit organizations for the fourth quarter of 2013.
Among these grants is a $12,500 grant to the NOVA Treatment Center in support of the Peer Support Program within Adult Residential Treatment. NOVA provides residential and outpatient treatment services to address an array of substance abuse issues.
“Entering treatment is a major milestone for people struggling with substance abuse, but the structured environment of treatment is often difficult for them to navigate. The Peer Support Program will provide an extra layer of support for those entering treatment from someone who has been where they are and can help guide them through the process. This type of support can increase the success of treatment,” said Christine Johnson, president, Mutual of Omaha Foundation. “Our foundation understands the importance of investing in organizations like NOVA who are helping people overcome major barriers and setting them on a path of a life free from addiction.”
In addition to this grant, the Foundation also approved grants to the following organizations:

In addition to these mission grants, the Foundation also approved civic grants to Heritage Services for the UNO Hockey Arena for $1.5 million and to Blue Barn Theatre for their new space located at 10th and Pacific Streets in the amount of $50,000.
